LABUAN: Nine couples registered their marriage at Labuan National Registration Department (NRD) yesterday.
Among them were Buruh Awos and Tan Ching Hui.
“I met her (Tan) while I was just employed in our former company, Chocolate Sales and Supply Sdn Bhd here. It is normal, as a new employee, I needed some guidance and as she was my colleague she helped me a lot with my job.
“She was always there to help me when I was down, and from there I knew her heart,” said Buruh who now works at a new company, Computer Science Corporation, as a technical support engineer while his wife is currently doing her own business.
Buruh is a Bidayuh from Kuching, Sarawak and Tan is a local who converted to Christianity for their marriage.
The new couple was accompanied by their family members and friends to the NRD.
Meanwhile, the newly wed couple’s friends, Kevin Su Hing and his fiancée, Debbie Chin planned to get married next year.
According to the NRD, nine couples took their marriage vows at the department yesterday.
Meanwhile, at Labuan Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), ten Muslim couples performed their ‘akad nikah’ (marriage solemnization) at the JAWI’s surau (prayer room).
