Wira owner claims ownership transferred without consent

SIBU: The offer to buy was rejected but the transfer process went ahead and the irate car owner had to lodge a police report over the alleged forgery and fraud when he found that the car no longer belonged to him.

The victim also reported the matter to Sibu branch of Malaysia Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) after making a police report on the same day (Nov 9).

What was more shocking to him was that, without his consent and knowledge, the car was first transferred to his 19-year-old daughter, and then from his daughter to a male individual surnamed Chin on Nov 1.

Commercial crime investigating officer Sergeant Ramli Hussin handling the case told the victim Duwin Udih that his daughter would be questioned.

Prior to the transfer on Nov 1, the white Proton Wira sedan was registered under Duwin Udih’s name and used and kept by his ex-wife.

Duwin, who resides in Mukah, alleged that on Oct 21, Chin called him about his intention to buy the car.

He, however, rejected the offer because he considered the price of RM6,000 too low and believed that the deal was over.

“Curiosity and instinct drive me to go to Road Transport Department (JPJ) here on Nov 8 to check the status of ownership, and I was really shocked to find the car had been transferred to Chin on Nov 1,” he said.

According to him, a photocopy of his old identification card (IC) in the confirmation of identity of registered owner form (TM-AB (Pin. 1/2011)) was validated by the Commissioner for Oaths without the new original copy and in his (Duwin) absence.

He also alleged that his thumbprint in the said form and his signature in the transfer form (JPJ K3) were forged.

“How could JPJ do the transfer in my absence and with forged signature and thumbprint,” said the Mukah-based reporter.
