SIBU: The five sub-branches of SUPP Sibu held their respective annual general meeting yesterday.

It proceeded smoothly as there was no contest.

Three of the five have submitted the lists of their elected official posts, leaving only the lists of Naman and Sungei Merah sub-branches not available to the press.

In Teku Sub-branch, the chairman is Soo Teck Kee, Sungei Empawah (Wong Ung) and Paradom (Ting Hung Hua).

Vincent Goh of Sungei Merah sub-branch said the list of their official posts was expected to be released today.

Leaders of these sub-branches said after their meetings that they would work with the party leaders to rejuvenate the party which was badly scarred during the April 16 state polls.

Goh, in his speech yesterday, dealt mainly on the challenges ahead, calling on members to work together using various strategies.

In the nomination of Sibu Branch on Saturday, former Youth chief Benson Chua called on members to gear up for the triennial delegates’ conference (TDC) in Kuching next month, saying it was “a crucial moment”.

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak would attend that meeting.
