Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this showed that cooperation between the ministry and the Home Ministry had achieved considerable success in overcoming the problems of smuggling which had been of great concern to many people previously.

“This success will be further extended to Sabah and Sarawak, although the date for its implementation has yet to be determined. Nevertheless, such efforts have been most successful and reflected a positive success for Rela in assisting the government,” he told reporters after the signing the Collaboration Notes with the Home Ministry, here yesterday.

Also present at the ceremony were Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, who also signed the Collaboration Notes together with Ismail Sabri.

Rela director-general Datuk  Mustafa Ibrahim was also present together with 1,000 Rela volunteers.

Earlier, Ismail Sabri and Hishammuddin carried out joint inspections on several petrol stations at the border areas to check on the deployment of Rela members there. — Bernama
