KOTA KINABALU: MASwings Sdn Bhd has adopted two schools in Sabah under its Wings of Love Programme next year.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Captain Mohd Nawawi Awang in disclosing this said the programme aims at involving the participating schools, located in Kundasang and Kudat, to focus on three main aspects, namely community, education and environment.

He said a similar programme was launched in Sarawak in July this year.

“The programme is part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) to help the community, especially in the interior, by getting the collaboration from both MASwings and the State Government.

“We hope that through the programme, we will be able to create closer rapport between MASwings and the people through our focus on rural education,” he said after presenting certificates to 10 full time and two part time Cabin Crew graduates, yesterday.

He added that they had also built a jetty in Kampung Air in Tanjung Aru, which they adopted as part of MASwings CSR programme.

MASwings set up the Very Small Antenna Transmitter (VSAT) in Bario and Ba’kelalan, sponsored by Maxis Berhad, to mark its Wings of Love launching project in Sarawak on July 21.

Through the project, they also adopted three schools, namely SK Bario, SMK Bario and SK Ba’kelalan to promote the importance of education among the locals there.

On another development, Nawawi urged the cabin crew to equip themselves with knowledge on tourist destinations in the state.

“Such knowledge will lift up your credibility, which also helps to promote East Malaysia in general, and Sabah in particular,” he said.

At the event, the 12 cabin crew graduates had undergone full mandatory courses over a period of two months.

Upon completion, they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge required to meet MASwings operations needs and customer expectations.

To date, MASwings cabin crew has established a reputable record of providing the highest standard in-flight service following the consistent record of its parent company which received the accolade of ‘World’s Best Cabin Staff’ by the Skytrax over six years.
