Melaka council seeks staff exchange with MBKS

KUCHING: The Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) has proposed a staff exchange programme with the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

Secretary Azmi Hussain yesterday said this could help to enhance integration between the local councils and help MBMB improve its services.

“We have yet to have any interaction programme with other local councils in East Malaysia. Maybe a staff exchange programme with MBKS could be a start.

“I believe Melaka can offer MBKS with its best practices in heritage preservation, while we can get insight on landscaping from MBKS. So, why not?” he told a press conference after a courtesy call on Kuching South Mayor James Chan.

Azmi said he was sure such an interaction programme would get full support from the government.

Chan concurred that the suggestion was a positive one, adding that MBKS would consider initiating the programme.

Thirty MBMB members are on a three-day official visit to Kuching.
