221 haj pilgrims return safely

SAFELY HOME: A huge crowd awaits the arrival of haj pilgrims at the Kuching International Airport.

KUCHING: A total of 221 haj pilgrims fromSarawak returned safely to the state yesterday.

The 91 men and 120 women returned on Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight KT46.

The flight carried 447 Malaysian pilgrims with its first stop being the Kuching International Airport (KIA), before flying off toKuala Lumpurwith the other 236 pilgrims fromWest Malaysia.

A press release from Tabung Haji said three Sarawakians died due to their age during the pilgrimage — two inMeccaand another inMedina.

The last batch of 447 pilgrims fromSarawakis expected to return today, with the flight scheduled to land at 12.35pm.
