MY Music holds concert today

BINTULU: MY Music will hold its first Annual Musical Concert today (Nov 27) from 1.30pm to 5pm at ParkCity Everly Hotel.

Themed ‘Weaving Dreams for Music’, the concert aims to provide a platform for students to perform publicly.

The MY Music String Orchestra, which has been practising for over four months, will perform songs like ‘The Lost World’ (Jurassic Park), ‘Memory’, ‘Sungai Pahang’, along with the themes from ‘Spiderman’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’.

The school bands of SMK Bintulu and Brass Band of SM Kai Dee will also come together to form a symphony orchestra.

“Besides orchestra, we will have solos and duets from the students and teachers,” said MY Music person-in-charge Joseph Hii.

Teachers from MY Music will accompany with ukuleles, cajon, maracas and double bass.

Guest of honour Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing will also launch ‘Discover Finger Style with William Kok’ during the event.

The book, which is available in four levels, is written by guest performer William Kok.

Kok is an accomplished guitarist gifted with the ability to play a complete musical arrangement all on one guitar.

In 2004, he won a Malaysian Christian Music Festival award for his unique guitar solo on ‘Amazing Grace’. In the same year, he released his debut guitar solo album, ‘The Music Maker’.
