Govt to continue giving lion heads for CNY celebrations

SANDAKAN: The Barisan Nasional state government will continue to give lion heads to associations and organisations in Sabah for the purpose of performing during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

This will be the third consecutive year the Sabah government is providing the support, Jason Tan, the political secretary to Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Peter Pang En Yin, said on Thursday.

“The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman has always been supportive of efforts to promote the uniqueness of Sabah’s multi ethnic and cultural activities,” he added.

According to Tan, the state government has decided to continue providing the lion heads after three Chinese representatives in the state cabinet; Datuk Peter Pang En Yin , Deputy Chief Minister cum Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai and Industrial Development Minister Datuk Raymond Tan met with the Chief Minister.

Associations and organisations registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) can submit their application enclosed with the ROS certificate and an official letter to Jason Tan from 30 Nov until 9 Dec 2011 by faxing the documents to 088 237788.
