LUNDU: Police here believe they have solved at least four vehicle robbery cases in the district involving four-wheel drives (4WDs) following the recent arrest of two foreign men.

District police chief DSP Wong Chee Kiong said the foreigners were arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a 4WD vehicle belonging to a manager of an oil palm plantation near Biawak, located along the Lundu-West Kalimantan border.

Following the arrests, Wong said an identification parade was conducted during which three other owners, who lost their 4WD vehicles in similar fashion earlier, positively identified the men as the culprits.

The duo have since been remanded pending further investigation.

Wong added that the four cases occurred at locations near the border such as Biawak, Sempadi and Sematan, with the 4WD vehicles believed to be subsequently disposed of across the border.
