KUCHING: A woman sought treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital early yesterday after she was repeatedly punched by her intoxicated husband for refusing to have sex with him inside their car.

The incident happened around 3am outside a pub in the Petanak area when the couple got into their car to leave the premises following a night out.

Bouncers stationed outside the pub saw the man raining blows on his wife inside the car, and rushed over to pull her out to safety.

They then sent her to the hospital for treatment, and were met once more by the irate husband who continued to verbally abuse his wife and slap her in the hospital waiting room.

Police stationed at the hospital intervened to stop the husband, who quickly left the hospital while his wife received treatment for bruises to her face.

A source disclosed that the intoxicated man became angry after his wife refused to entertain his request to have sex in their car once they had exited the pub.

In a separate incident, a young couple sustained bodily cuts after they were attacked while trying to escape a melee inside a pub at Siol Kandis early yesterday.

The couple, both aged 28, were together inside the premises when a brawl erupted between several patrons around 3am.

Fearing for their safety, the couple dashed to the front entrance but was stopped by an unknown man, who accused them of being involved in the fight and struck them with glass bottles.

They managed to flee the attack and headed straight to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.
