KUCHING: Two men in their 30s were nabbed for stealing cable at Mile 4 ½ while their two accomplices fled.
The incident happened at about 12 noon yesterday.
The four suspects caught the attention of two patrolmen as they were carrying cables on their motorcycles while driving in the wrong direction on the road.
The policemen stopped them for investigation.
The cable weighing about 100kg can fetch up to RM400 on the black market.
While the two motorcyclists were apprehended, their pillion riders fled on foot.
The cable and motorcycles were seized.
Police are said to be looking for the two men who got away.
