KUCHING: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Kuching Branch has bagged two management and services quality awards in conjunction with the Civil Service Assembly 2011 held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) recently.

The event, attended by around 5,000 civil service employees from the state’s public sector, saw the Kuching-branch social security institution winning the Sarawak Federal Secretary Award 2010 and Excellent Counter Service Award 2010.

Presenting the first award was Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, while the service award was given by the State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Ghani.

Accepting the award was EPF Kuching Branch’s director Chia Swee Choo.

She said the recognition received by EPF Kuching Branch was proof of the branch’s dedication towards upkeeping the utmost quality in its management and services levels.

“The awards have really showcased our ability to give the best services to customers, thus raising our image profile to the public.”

Chia added that apart from maintaining the quality of its key front-line personnel, EPF would also strive to provide varied channels of services aimed at making transactions for its clients more convenient and hassle-free.

“Amongst these services is the ‘I-Akaun’ facility, which is Internet-accessible. As such, EPF members no longer need to queue up whenever they need to perform transactions like checking annual account statement, updating mailing addresses, viewing current and recent transactions, as well as finding updates on withdrawal application statuses.

“Members can also access and check their EPF accounts from the comfort of their workplaces or homes through the web, anytime,” she pointed out.

For employers, the I-Akaun also accommodated facilities such as assessing account statements, checking employees’ EPF numbers, registration of new workers and reviewing current EPF transactions.

“This facility is provided for free. All the members have to do is to register by attaining the six-digit activation code using their Mykads at the nearest EPF kiosks. Then, users have to log on to www.kwsp.gov.my to activate their respective accounts within 90 days,” Chia said.
