CM visits school for poor and orphans

KUCHING: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his entourage visited Anjuman-E-Himayath-E-Islam, a school for the poor and orphans in Chennai, India on Monday.

On hand to receive them was Anjuman School president T Rafeeq.

The school has 802 students and 160 staff.

It provides preschool education and also tertiary technical education.

Next year, the school will offer Technical Diplomas for plumbing, electrical, air conditioner servicing and repair, technology and tailoring.

The school was founded in 1890.

Its initial objective was to rehabilitate the poor and orphans from Chennai and its surrounding areas.
