KUALA LUMPUR: The World Press Photo Exhibition is back again, but this time more Malaysians will be able to enjoy it as it will be taken to other locations — Melaka, Kota Kinabalu and Penang — apart from Kuala Lumpur.

“The overwhelming response that we received last year encouraged us to think beyond the Klang Valley,” said S C Chong, managing director of TNT Express Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd, at a press conference to announce the event here yesterday.

TNT Express, an express delivery company, and the Netherlands are responsible for bringing the exhibition, which will be held from Jan 30 to March 19 next year.

Chong said that holding the exhibition outside Kuala Lumpur would definitely bring in more crowd.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands ambassador to Malaysia, Paul Bekkers, said the exhibition was not merely a collection of top-quality photos but also illustrated art and culture in its most real form.

The exhibition would enhance ties between the Netherlands and Malaysia, he said in his welcoming speech at the press conference.

This year’s competition attracted 5,691 photographers from 125 countries including Malaysia and, in total, a record number of 108,059 images were entered in the contest. — Bernama
