Christmas party for 160 special children

KUCHING: Sarawak Insurance Association (PIS) will be organising a Christmas party for 160 special children from six charitable organisations in the state this month.According to PIS president Dato Patrick Liew, this will be the association’s eighth year of holding the event as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“It aims to create awareness among the public that while we share the festive joy with loved ones, we must not forget those who need a helping hand,” he said at a press conference yesterday.

Participating charitable organisations are Sarawak Association for the Welfare of Intellectually Disabled Children (Perkata Sarawak), Sarawak Salvation Army, Sarawak Cheshire Home, Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS), Sarawak Thalassaemia Society and Sarawak Autistic Association.

“PIS would like to invite members of the public to the event where children will be entertained by a Santa Claus, magic show, Christmas choir and lunch,” he added.

Assistant Minister for Youth Development Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzahis is expected to launch the event at Hills Shopping Mall from 11am to 2pm on Dec 17.

It is organised in collaboration with Hills Shopping Mall and Lee Clan Association Youth Section.

A free blood pressure screening and blood donation campaign will be conducted from 10am to 2pm.

Free goodies will be given to blood donors.

Among other events lined up at Hills Shopping Mall from Dec 16 to 18 are ‘Intel Enter Aje! Roadshow’ (10am to 10pm Dec 16) and Christmas Carols and Drama (7pm to 9pm Dec 18).
