According to a 61-year-old villager, Rosni Din, she moved to an evacuation centre not far from her house at around 6pm on Sunday after flood waters rose to about six feet.

“Water from Sarawak Kanan which is situated some 80 metres behind my house entered my kitchen and living room after it rained continuously for three days,” she said.

Rosni, a single mother who lives with her children said her house was always affected by floods during the rainy season.

She also suggested that the drainage system at her village be upgraded, admitting that she was still traumatised after a big flood that occurred in 2009.

Meanwhile, another villager, Awie Bujang, who had about 0.4 metre of flood water in his house also agreed that further drainage upgrades could be done to avoid serious flooding in the future.
