Buyers of stalled housing project want answers

KUCHING: Buyers of the stalled Vista Wawasan housing project are demanding answers from the developer.

The buyers claimed that they have bank loans and paid legal fees for the project, under Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB), but it stalled three years ago.

“Unfortunately until today, not even one pillar has been erected. What we saw was only an area gated with zinc and basic infrastructure such as drains and roads,” the buyers said in a press statement conveyed by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak deputy chairman Zulrusdi Mohamad Hol yesterday.

The statement said many of the buyers had to continue renting accommodation or lived in the homes of their relatives.

“We hope that we can get answers from SPNB, HDC (Housing Development Corporation) and the state Ministry of Housing soon on the status of the project,” said the statement.

Vista Wawasan — situated at Jalan Sultan Tengah, Salak Land District — was to consist of 1,975 units.

Meanwhile, Zulrusdi also urged the government to look into electricity and water supply for residents of Pulau Salak, which is situated about 15 minutes boat ride from Pasir Pandak and Kampung Sungai Belian at Tanjung Datu.
