KUCHING: A 14-year-old girl and her two teenage girlfriends were arrested by police after they allegedly arranged an armed attack against a youth who had teased them earlier.
Police detained the girl around midnight yesterday at Chonglin Park after the victim, who happens to be her cousin, lodged a report.
The girl’s two friends surrendered at the police station an hour after the early Monday incident.
According to a source, unhappy about being teased by the 22-year-old victim, the girls had summoned him out of his hotel room at Ban Hock Road, where he had been staying with visiting family members from Engkilili, on the pretext of ‘settling’ the matter.
But as he stepped out from the hotel, he was set upon by up to eight teenage boys – one armed with a samurai sword – and slashed on both arms.
The boys then fled with the three girls who had stood by watching the attack, while the victim made his way to hospital for treatment before lodging a police report.
The source disclosed that one of the boys involved in the attack was the 14-year-old girl’s boyfriend whom she had hooked up with about a week ago, while the others were his friends.
All three girls have been detained in the lockup, pending further investigation, while police are tracking down the boys.
