Over 70,000 ex-policemen to receive token of appreciation

KUALA LUMPUR: Over 70,000 policemen during the Emergency period in peninsular Malaysia (1948-1962) and Sabah and Sarawak (1962-1974) will each receive RM3,000 as special token of appreciation.

Home Ministry (KDN) secretary-general Tan Sri Mahmood Adam said those eligible could apply for the special token by contacting the ministry.

Payment will be made to ex-members of Special Constabulary (SC), Home Guard (HG), Auxiliary Police (AP), Extra Police Constable (EPC), Border Scout (BS), Jungle Scout (JS), Police Field Force Reservist (PFFR) and Sarawak Constabulary (SWC).

For members who have died, their widow or widower could apply as beneficiary but the application must be accompanied by a declaration certified by a village headman or police station chief.
