KUCHING: The operation to search for Kho Ying Qi, the missing Form 6 student of SMK Batu Lintang, has been extended to three different locations, said Kuching District Police Chief ACP Mun Kok Keong yesterday.

He pointed out that the three locations were along the monsoon drain, Sungai Maong and the estuary of Sungai Sarawak.

He said the operation involves personnel from the Marine Police, Civil Defence Department and Fire and Rescue Services Department.

As of press time yesterday, there was no sign of Kho.

The 19-year-old was swept away by swift flowing water in a monsoon drain together with Herman Sihas @ Mohd Sulaiman Abdullah around 7am last Thursday.

Herman, a 28-year-old petrol station employee, was trying to save Kho who slipped and fell into the swollen drain.

Civil Defence Department’s personnel found Herman’s body at 8.45am last Saturday at Lorong Sungai Maong Ulu 3.
