KOTA KINABALU: There is no issue of Sabahans being denied of chances to work in the federal government, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.

In fact, Musa said he had urged locals in the state to work in the federal government departments and agencies.

“As far as I am concerned, no one has denied Sabahans of chances of working in the federal department and agencies. And as a result, many of our locals have been appointed as directors and other high posts in the federal departments and agencies,” he told reporters after launching the federal departments and agencies gathering at the Sabah Federal Government Administration Complex, here yesterday.

He added that: “For as long as Sabahans are ready to serve in the federal government, they are encouraged to apply and in fact, most welcome to do so.”

On another development, Musa stressed that what matters most is that the people’s needs are met.

As such, he urged both civil servants in state and federal departments and agencies to work closely together to ensure the government’s policies and programmes are executed smoothly.

“To me, there is no difference between civil servants attached to the federal or state departments and agencies. Both should work equally hard and practise good delivery system,” he said.

“In my speech to them, I emphasised on the importance of working together between both the state and federal officers and civil servants.

“To date, I am happy with the collaboration between them and believe they are working hard to implement programmes and policies introduced by the government and the leaders. It is vital to execute their work the best possible,” he said.

Musa added that apart from sharing the responsibilities, both federal and state departments and agencies should also allow their facilities to be utilised, should either one of them faced shortage of manpower.

“The federal government departments and agencies are welcome to use the facilities belonging to the state government and vice versa. What matters most is that we all work towards the same goal, which is to provide the best services to the people,” he said.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Sukarti Wakiman and Federal Secretary to Sabah, Datuk Khazali Haji Ahmad.
