KUCHING: The search for missing SMK Batu Lintang student Kho Ying Qi entered its sixth day yesterday with no new developments as rescuers continue to trawl Sungai Maong and its tributaries.

The rescue team, made up of personnel from the Marine Police, Fire and Rescue Services Department and the Civil Defence Department, is not giving up its effort to locate Kho by utilising all available resources.

It was also said that help has been sought from spiritual mediums to locate the Upper 6 student, although none of her family members were available to confirm it.

Kho went missing on the morning of Jan 5 after falling into a swollen monsoon drain during flash floods in the city.

A search-and-rescue operation was immediately launched to locate her and Herman Sihas, a petrol station worker who jumped into the drain to rescue her but ultimately drowned.

Herman’s body was found on Jan 7 along the river at Lorong Sungai Maong Ulu 3.

The operation to locate Kho, meanwhile, is expected to continue.
