JOHOR BAHARU: A teenager waiting for her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results was found dead in a pool of blood at her house in Taman Kempas here yesterday.
C Sivaranjini, 18, a student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kempas whose neck was slashed, was found sprawled in a pool of blood by her father who returned from work in Singapore at 10am.
The victim was believed to be alone when the incident happened because the mother had gone to work in Singapore while her two brothers had gone to school.
Initial investigations revealed that her assailants had entered the house through the back door and slashed Sivaranjini with a sharp object and fled on a motorcycle.
Acting on information, police managed to detain three men, aged between 20 and 50, in Kempas, Pasir Gudang and Senai.
Johor Police Chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said police were still investigating the motive for the murder. “The case is classified as murder and investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he told reporters here yesterday adding that the body had been sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for post-mortem. — Bernama
