Council calls on MAS not to retrench staff

KUALA LUMPUR: The Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) has called on Malaysian Airlines (MAS) to give an assurance that it will not retrench employees.

Its president, Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Rahman said the Malaysia Airlines System Employees Union (Maseu) was worried obout the future of over 10,000 MAS employees following the Comprehensive Cooperation Framework (CCF) cemented between the national carrier and budget airline AirAsia.

“What does the new business plan under the CCF entail? We really hope MAS will guarantee that it will not will not cut down on the number of employees.

At the meeting, Maseu handed over a memorandum to Mubarak to be delivered to the government. — Bernama
