SHAH ALAM: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has consented to the termination of Datuk Dr Hasan Ali’s appointment as a member of the state executive council (exco).

Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the decision was made on his advice to the Sultan when he had an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin at Istana Bukit Kayangan yesterday.

“Considering that Datuk Dr Hasan is no longer a PAS member, I decided that he could also no longer be a state exco member and I advised the Sultan to cancel his appointment.

“The Sultan agreed with my view and His Majesty will be writing the letter to terminate Datuk Dr Hasan’s appointment as state exco member,” he told a press conference yesterday.

Abdul Khalid had before this asked Hasan to voluntarilty vacate his exco post as he had been sacked from Pas and hence, was no longer representing the party in the Selangor government.

The former Selangor PAS commissioner was sacked from Pas last Sunday for his actions that were deemed to be detrimental to the party.

Hasan was the state Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs, Infrastructure and Public Amenities Committee chairman.

Abdul Khalid said the Selangor Sultan’s Office would be sending the appointment termination letter to Hasan soon.

“He (Hasan) is now on leave,” he said.

Abdul Khalid also said that the Sultan had empowered him to appoint a new exco member in place of Hasan.

“The Sultan also advised me to carry this out wisely, without influence from any quarters,” he said.

Abdul Khalid said he had received the official letter dated Jan 10 from the Pas central commttee stating that Hasan had been sacked from the party with immediate effect.

Asked whether he had received from Pas, a list of candidats to replace Hasan, he said no.

However, he said, the appointment of the new state exco member would be made at Istana Bukit Kayangan on Jan 18. — Bernama
