Gerakan: No discussions on seat swapping yet

KUALA LUMPUR: The party has not discussed swapping seats for the 13th General Election so far, said Gerakan President Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.

“We have not officially discussed it, although there’s an idea in that direction,” he said when questioned as to whether Gerakan would change seats with other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in the next general election.

He was speaking after the launching of the Socially Responsible Community forum organised by the party at the Sri Delima Kuala Lumpur Cityhall Sports Complex in Kepong yesterday.

Dr Koh said, as a matter of principle a BN component party retains the same seats it was allocated in the last general election.

“In special circumstances …swapping of seats need mutual understanding and doesn’t depend on one side only,” he said.

The Minister in Prime Minister’s Department added that for the time being, Gerakan leaders and members would focus on strengthening the party and BN. — Bernama
