KUALA LUMPUR:  The police have advised the people to notify them should they “balik kampung” on the Chinese New Year holiday so that the police can keep an eye on their unattended houses here to prevent any break-in.

Ampang Jaya Police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the Ampang Jaya police headquarters hoped to record more than 1,000 such notifications this time compared to 900 last year.

“I urge the people of Ampang to notify the police before returning to their hometowns so that the police can ensure that their houses are safe from burglars,” he said after attending a programme on keeping houses safe. — Bernama
