Motorcyclist instantly killed in collision


KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider injured after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle at Kampung Kobuni near the Kionsom waterfall, Inanam here on Sunday.

Jamil Eman, 26, of Kampung Giling Laut, Tuaran, died at the scene due to severe head injury in the 5pm incident.

The pillion rider, Mohd Raffi Sulaiman, 27, sustained injuries on his arm and body and is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where his condition was reported to be stable.

It is believed that the motorcycle was heading towards the Inanam township from Kionsom when the victim lost control of the machine and swerved to the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Due to the impact, Jamil was killed instantly on the spot.

City police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said the victim’s body was taken to the QEH for a post-mortem.

The 24-year-old driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle was taken to the police station to have his statement taken.

Ahmad Sofi urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist police in their investigation into the accident under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
