KUCHING: The state government supports schools with excellent results, says Samariang assemblywoman Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.

“Schools with excellent results deserve recognition from the state government which help other schools improve — be it in academic or co-curricular activities,” she said.

She said this when presenting a grant to Kolej Datu Patinggi Haji Abdillah’s Parent-Teacher Association at Samariang Service centre in Kampung Malaysia Jaya yesterday.

She said human capital investment was crucial to produce quality students who could benefit the state in the future.

“It’s a long-term focus, not only to produce excellent students but for the state to have a reliable workforce source.”

She commended schools that took the initiative to look for their own financing by organising fundraising activities.

Sharifah Hasidah praised the school for excellence in academic and co-curriculum activities for many years up to now.

“The school has been a good landmark for the state in its academic achievement, and I am proud it is in my constituency. I hope other schools will catch up and follow the legacy of Kolej Abdillah.” she said.

Among those present were Kolej Abdillah PTA chairman Adenan Bukra and principal Mastura Anuar.
