PUTATAN: There is no hidden agenda behind the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) for the people, Putatan member of parliament Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh said.
The RM500 financial assistance is given sincerely by the government to those who are in need, especially the low income group, he said after presenting the assistance to eligible applicants in the Putatan constituency yesterday.
Mojigoh said the disbursement of BR1M showed that the government was in a strong financial situation and could afford to give such assistance to the people.
“This assistance is not meant to garner votes as what the Opposition is claiming but in fact it is the government’s commitment to ease the people’s burden,” he said.
“The government is not bothered about the Opposition’s slander as this is nothing new,” he said, adding that making false accusations was part of the Opposition’s routine as they had nothing else to do.
“It is all talk and nothing else… not lifting a finger to help the people,” Mojigoh alleged.
In his speech earlier, Mojigogh advised the recipients to spend the money wisely and use it on things like their children’s schooling needs.
