U Mobile launches new prepaid offering


KUCHING: U Mobile Sdn Bhd (U Mobile) introduces its brand new prepaid offering to customer by giving 20 short message service (SMS) for free for every six SMSes sent, as a further enhancement to its free voice call offerings launched in July last year to its new prepaid subscribers.

According to a press release, U Mobile’s new prepaid users could enjoy free SMS in addition to the current free calls from one U Mobile to the same telco. Every RM1 top up would allow subscribers to be eligible for one day of free SMS.

U Mobile’s new prepaid subscribers could also enjoy local call rates when roaming in Singapore with the validity period up to 90 days and on 42Mbps broadband services.

Dr Kaizad Heerjee, chief executive officer of U Mobile said, “This new offering is an extension to our hugely successful free calls campaign launched in July 2011. Now, in addition to making free calls, our customers will also be able to enjoy sending free SMS. We’re delighted to be able to continuously provide exciting new, value-add experiences to our customers by making everyday essentials such as voice calls and SMS extremely affordable via our innovative and unique prepaid plan,”

“As we usher in the Year of the Dragon, we want to encourage our customers to take advantage of the free SMS offering as it is a great way to foster closer relationships with their loved ones at home and abroad, in the spirit of unity,” he added.

For every RM1 top-up, U Mobile customers would enjoy one day of free calls and free SMS. During the peak hours from 7pm to 12am, subscibers would benefit from the lower call rates at three cents for every 30 seconds.

For the rest of the day, U Mobile customers could enjoy calls for free calling to another U Mobile users with no limitations on the numbers of friends and families. Free SMS would be capped at 1,000 a day or up to 50 sets of ‘buy 6 free 20’ a day.
