MARANG: Marang police are hot on the trail of a gang believed to be involved in robberies, snatch theft and motorcycle theft.

Marang police chief DSP Ahmad Mazlan Yahya said the group known as ‘Geng Mie Tiger’, comprising three members, have been active in Bukit Payong and Marang.

He said they were Mohd Zulhelmi Rosli or ‘Mie Tiger’, 24, from Kampung Alor Limbat, Bukit Payong, Mohd Zakaria Abd Ghani or ‘Mamat Itik’ 23, from Kampung Rhu Muda and Abdul Latip Mat Bidin, 29, from Kampung Padang Limau Nipis, Bukit Payong.

“We are confident they will be tracked down soon to help solve several criminal cases in the district,” he told reporters here, yesterday.

He said police were also seeking help from the public to furnish information which could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

According to Ahmad Mazlan, ‘Mie Tiger’ had been previously charged in court but failed to turn up when the case came up.

He said those who had information about the gang can contact Marang police at 09-6182222 or the Bukit Payong Police Station at 09-6191222.

“They can send SMS (short messaging service) or go to the nearest police station,” he said. — Bernama
