KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu’s gold medal hopes in Sukma boxing competitions in Kuantan, Pahang will hinge on two national back up squad boxers.

Terengganu Boxing Association secretary Razali Mamat said the presence of the two boxers from Besut in the Terengganu boxing squad, would strengthen its chances of winning gold medals.

“The two are our best hopes of picking up gold medals,” he said. The two, Mohd Hakim Hafizuddin, competing in the 46kg category and Mohd Shahrulnizam Mohd Ali (60kg) category, were recently included in the team after undergoing centralised training at the Larkin Stadium boxing centre in Johor, he said.

Razali said the duo would be send for training to the Trang Sports School near Hatyai, Thailand for a training, next month.

“They will be among seven boxers to undergo training at the school for a month as part of the team’s preparations for the Sukma,” he said. — Bernama
