KUALA LUMPUR: Two brothers were killed on the spot, when a garbage truck crashed into their motorcycle, on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) near Batu Caves here yesterday afternoon.
Selangor traffic staff officer DSP Azmi Mansur said, the victims, Rezal Nur Shahiril, 22, and Farouk Nur Shahiril, 18, were on their way from their house in Taman Koperasi Polis to the Seri Siantan Complex swimming pool in Selayang when the mishap occurred at 1 pm.
“A garbage truck, believed to have been out of control, crashed into them from behind. Apparently it had collided with an ice lorry first, due to brake failure,” he told reporters here, yesterday.
He said the truck dragged the motorcycle for 25 metres before hitting a car and a bus.
Meanwhile, A.Thurai Raj who witnessed the accident as he was about to cross the road said, he saw the garbage truck collide with an ice lorry before skidding out of control and crashing into the victims’ motorcycle.
The truck driver has been detained to facilitate investigations. — Bernama
