JOHOR BAHARU: Johor are hoping to enter the Malaysia Book of Records for the most number of Dragon dance troupes performing simultaneously at the Danga Bay on Feb 12.

Organised by the Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd in conjunction with the 15th Anniversary Celebrations of Danga Bay, the feat will be officiated by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Danga Bay project director Gary Lee Seaton told reporters here today that the event would be held at the Danga Bay starting 3pm.

“We are expecting about 20,000 people to witness the feat,” he said here today.

Vice president of the Johor Wushu Dragon and Lion Dance Association, Chan Sin Tong said more than 100 dragon heads with 1,000 performers would perform for about 15 minutes during the event.

“So far we have contacted all the dragon dance associations in Johor and so far it is confirmed that there will be 99 dragon heads and their performers joining the event,” he said adding that more might confirm their participation soon.

Each dragon head would involve nine performers, he said. — Bernama
