MIRI: Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dato Sri Douglas Uggah yesterday told reporters off for being an ‘instrument’ of rumour-mongers when they asked him to comment on a recent speculation that he would be dropped in the 13th general election.

“What politic (issue)? When is the election … you ask PM (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak). Don’t spread rumours. It is a rumour right? Why you want to be an instrument to spread rumours?” Uggah shot back when approached by reporters after an inspection tour of the Miri-Marudi Road project here.

He then declined to comment further, saying he wanted to concentrate on his ministry’s work.

“I want to make sure that all government promises and jobs (projects) are implemented. I am running around to see all these.”

Recently, online news portal Malaysia Today (MT), quoting sources, wrote that nine PBB MPs would be dropped in the 13th general election. Besides Uggah, the others are Datuk Rohani Karim (Batang Lupar), Datuk Wahab Dollah (Igan), Datuk Sri Mohd Leo Michael Toyad (Mukah), Datuk Dr James Dawos Mamit (Mambong), Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib (Kota Samarahan), Ahmad Lai Bujang (Sibuti), Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (Santubong) and Nancy Shukri (Batang Sadong).
