KUCHING: A man from Taman Malihah had his motorcycle torched after he was cornered and attacked by a group of men late Tuesday night.
The incident happened around 11pm when the 49-year-old victim and a male friend were heading to a convenience store not far away from the former’s house to purchase some food.
According to the victim, 10 men on five motorcycles rode up alongside him and forced him to stop by the roadside, before approaching both him and his friend while brandishing sharp weapons.
His friend, who was the pillion rider, immediately hopped off the vehicle and took off on foot as the men suddenly attacked the victim and slashed him three times on his back.
Despite his injuries, the victim managed to escape the attack and hid inside a drain until his attackers left the scene.
However, when he returned to where he had abandoned his motorcycle, he found the men had set fire to his vehicle and quickly tried, but failed, to put out the flames.
He later sought medical treatment for his wounds before lodging a police report, claiming he did not know the motive behind the attack.
