CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The government through the National Population and Family Planning Board (LPPKN) allocates a subsidy of RM6.7 million for mammogram tests for 65,000 women whose family income is RM5,000 and below this year.
Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said this group qualified for the free mammogram screening tests to detect breast cancer.

“This is one of the programmes carried out under the 1Malaysia People’s Welfare Programme (KAR1SMA) launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last year.

“Through this programme LPPKN provides mobile clinics to go to those places picked for the purpose,” she told reporters after opening a Family KAR1SMA Programme at Pos Manson, Ringlet near here Sunday.

Shahrizat said, through the programme, the mobile clinic workers and staff would carry out examinations and give exposures to the target group on breast cancer. –Bernama
