KUCHING: A man allegedly raped his young daughter after she failed to answer him as to whether her mother was having an extramarital affair.

The incident began on Thursday, when the 40-something man assaulted his wife at their house in Matang after accusing her of having an affair with another man.

The assault caused the wife to seek refuge at her parent’s house in Malihah, where she subsequently stayed and refused her husband’s demand for her to return home.

At around 5.30pm on Friday, the suspect brought his 13-year-old daughter into a jungle behind their house and questioned her on whether her mother was seeing another man.

When the young girl failed to answer the father, he allegedly raped her and threatened her not to reveal the matter to anyone.

However, the victim related the incident to her elder brother upon his return to the house, prompting the latter to confront and fight with his father.

He then called the police to report the rape, which sent the suspect fleeing from the house.

When contacted yesterday, district police chief ACP Roslan Bek Ahmad confirmed that police have received a report of the alleged rape, and have sent the victim toSarawak General Hospital for a medical checkup.

Police are tracking the whereabouts of the suspect, who has not been seen since he took off from the house.
