JASIN:The Girl Guides Association of Malaysia are urged to preserve volunteerism culture among its 70,000 members in the country so that the responsible, caring, and sensitive attitudes can be inculcated.
The prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said with the 1Malaysia spirit, which emphasised on the collaboration attitude, the association must move as a strong force to achieve this noble intention.

“As the saying goes ‘a burden shared is a burden halved’, let us move and raise the flag of the association throughout the country as an active and caring body in reaching communities in need,” she said at the Melaka meet the Girl Guides session at Perkampungan Ikan Bakar Terapung, Umbai, here Sunday.

Rosmah, who is the association president, said through community activities, Girl Guides had been trained to meet its tagline of “As Available”, “Provide Services” and “Always Help the People”.

“What is most important is your response to my call so that each Girl Guides state branch be given a new lease of life through meet the people session,” she said.

She said the cooperation with the local community would popularise Girl Guides in giving something of value to them especially to the target group. –Bernama
