PUTRAJAYA: Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was accorded an official welcome at Perdana Square, Bangunan Perdana Putra, here, in conjunction with her one-day visit to Malaysia.

Yingluck was greeted upon arrival there by Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and other Cabinet ministers.

The national anthem of both nations was played by the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.

The Thai prime minister was then introduced to the ministers, foreign envoys and senior government officials.

Najib and Yingluck then held a closed-door meeting.

Yingluck’s visit is the first to Malaysia after she assumed the office of prime minister in August last year.

She was scheduled to visit Malaysia in October last year but postponed the trip due to the massive floods in Thailand. — Bernama
