KUALA TERENGGANU: Two acid splash victims in Kampung Padang Merchang are expected to undergo surgery for a new skin patch tomorrow.

Mohd Fazil Hanafi Idrus, 18, and Shahurzaman Salim, 38, are in stable condition but still unable to speak due to injuries suffered.

Idrus Mat Nor, 54, said his son Fazil would be operated so that the thigh skin could be used to patch parts of the body with acid burns.

“My son is not saying much about the incident and keeps to himself most of the time,” he told reporters when met at the Burns Unit of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Terengganu CID chief ACP K Manoharan said another suspect had been detained, bringing to three those detained to help investigation.

The 26-year-old construction worker man was detained at about 4.30pm yesterday at a car wash in Kampung Padang Mercang.

Manoharan said initial investigation revealed that the case might be caused by jealousy but declined further comment.

The two victims were sleeping with four others in a house in Kampung Padang Merchang on Sunday when splashed with acid by unknown men at 5.10am. — Bernama
