SEREMBAN: The national 2012 Girl Guides World Thinking Day celebrations will be hosted by Negeri Sembilan this Sunday.
Negeri Sembilan Girl Guides Association of Malaysia president Raja Datin Seri Salbiah Tengku Nujumudin said this is the first time the celebration is being held outside Kuala Lumpur.
“This time we are gathering about 3,000 girl guides from around the country, except for Sabah and Sarawak. They will meet at the Seremban Municipal Council (MPS) field before parading through town carrying banners, buntings and placards on an environmental conservation campaign,” she told reporters yesterday.
Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide observe World Thinking Day every Feb 22, whereby this year the celebration is themed We Can Save Our Planet.
Raja Salbiah, who is also the wife of Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, said apart from a recycling programme the event will also exhibit organic plants, how to make handicrafts and the sale of used goods.
The event is expected to be officiated by the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud. – Bernama
