Ex-servicemen setting up business assured of SEDC’s full support

KUCHING: Ex-servicemen who wish to be involved in business have been assured of full support and assistance from Sarawak Economy Development Corporation (SEDC).

Its chairman Datuk Talib Zulpilip said the assistance will include the capital to start their business.

Training and courses would be provided to enhance their skills in business and entrepreneurship.

“The ex-army personnel should not hesitate to get involved in business to improve their life and to increase their household income.

“If there is any needs for training and course, SEDC is ready to provide them to those interested to begin a business as well as the capital to start,” he said at the launching of Gerak Wira programme at a hotel here yesterday.

Talib, who is also the Assistant Tourism Minister, said that it is up to the ex-servicemen to grab opportunities provided by the government.

“The government is concerned about the welfare of this group (ex army),” he said.

On another matter, he explained that it was undeniable that some demands by the group were not met by the government after considering many aspects.

Meanwhile, the president of Malaysia Ex Army Association (PBTM) Dato’ Muhammad Abdul Ghani said the ex army should be given chances to implement development project fitting their skills.

Muhammad also announced RM10,000 allocation to the association.

Also present  was Sarawak PBTM chairman Spencer Birai.
