Ansari heads seat negotiating team within PR

KOTA KINABALU: PKR Sabah has appointed Tuaran division head Ansari Abdullah as leader of a three-man seat negotiating panel along with Kong Hong Ming and Jonathan Yasin for the party in the state.

PKR Sabah secretary cum supreme council member Dr Roland Chia said the appointment of the three senior party leaders was part of the party’s strategy to continue with the process of seat negotiations within Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Sabah alliance members namely PAS and DAP.

The appointments were made during the recent state PKR meeting, he said yesterday.

Dr Roland said the three-man team is a high calibre team consisting of senior lawyers in their own legal fields and also senior leaders in PKR Sabah.

Ansari is currently the divisional chief for Tuaran and also PKR Supreme Council member Kong Hong Ming is the divisional chief for Tawau and also the director of elections for PKR Sabah, while Jonathan Yasin is the divisional chief for Ranau and deputy chairman of PKR Sabah.

According to Dr Roland, the seat negotiation team would bring the aspirations and wishes of PKR Sabah leaders during the seat negotiation meeting with our Pakatan Rakyat friends .

They would report back to the PKR state leadership on proposals put forward and would get a mandate from the state leadership team before moving on to the next level of negotiations, he added.

Dr Roland said at present, the seat negotiation process was heading towards the final stages and was progressing very well to ensure a one-to-one fight against Barisan Nasional (BN) in this coming 13th general election.

On another note, PKR Sabah chairman Ahmad Thamrin Jaini, said PKR Sabah welcomed all political parties in Sabah to join Pakatan Rakyat as a common platform to fight against Umno/ Barisan Nasional.

“The door is always open to cooperate for the sake of the rakyat of Sabah,” he added.
