INVESTIGATING: Mohd Sarkawi of Lopeng Fire Station taking down some personal details from Ana at the scene.

MIRI: A family of five were left homeless after fire razed their two-storey wooden house in Kampung Pasir, Lutong yesterday morning.

The owner of the house, Ana Bada, 38, and four family members were not in the house when the incident occurred.

“I was attending a Parent-Teacher-Association meeting at Sekolah Kebangsaan Lutong during the incident, and was surprised when my neighbours told me about my house,” said Ana when met by thesundaypost at the scene yesterday. Her three children were at her neighbour’s house during the incident.

The family had stayed at the area for more than seven years.

According to Ana, the fire was first spotted by her neighbours at about 8am yesterday, before it spread to another section of the house. Two fire engines from Lopeng Fire station led by Mohd Sarkawi carrying eight firemen were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress  call from a member of the public.

They managed to put out the fire minutes after their arrival.

The actual cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.
