Strive harder, Ping Nang association chief tells members

SIBU: Members, especially the youths, of the Sarawak Ping Nang Association are urged not to be complacent over their achievements thus far but continue to strive harder to scale greater heights.

In making the call, the re-elected association  president Ko Wang Ping said resting on their laurels would not augur well for their own good in the ever-challenging life ahead.

“We must continue emulating our forefathers’ fighting spirit in their trials and tribulations to harness greater goals of success in the years ahead,” he said when making his address during the association’s 13th AGM held at Good Happiness Restaurant here yesterday.

Ko was optimistic that with the existing unity and cooperation prevailing among the members, the association would sail unabatedly towards greater goals they have in their sight.

“Of course, we must work hard and exercise patience as success will not come easily. In addition, we must be fully committed in our endeavours.

“Please take heed so that we will continue to progress as life goes on. If we do not do that, we will lag behind others in this era of globalisation,” he said.

He said without unity and cooperation among the members, the association would not go far in safeguarding their well-being and interests.

Members should not make use of the association for self-interest but for the mutual benefits of all, he said.

On the extension of the association’s three-storey premises, Ko said it has been put on hold, citing finance as one of the reasons that is holding back the project that needs at least RM300,000.

He said although the Land and Survey department has approved the extension plan to add another storey, it requires further approval from higher authority.

Thus, he said, more time is needed for the project to come to fruition.

The association currently has more than 1,700 members.
