KUCHING: Ten teams will be vying for the coveted ‘Kubah Ria Young Chef’ title in a sizzling cooking competition at Kubah Ria Centre Court from 3pm to 5.30pm tomorrow (March 10).
Organised by Kubah Ria Complex in collaboration with SEDC Agro-Food Based Division, Gas Petronas, Maggi, and Liansin Trading Sdn Bhd, the competition encourages ‘chef wannabes’ to come forward and showcase their cooking talent.
“We have seen many celebrity chefs and MasterChefs reality programmes on TV and we hope that through ‘Kubah Ria Young Chef’ it will serve as a platform to recognise our own homegrown talents and the opportunity for them to become celebrity chefs in the future,” said Sara Urusharta Event and PR coordinator Ida Athanazir at a press conference here yesterday.
The teams, comprising one adult and one ‘young chef’ aged 16 and below, will cook their hearts out over three rounds where they are required to prepare a hearty fried rice dish, meat dish and a mystery dish that will only be revealed during the competition.
“Their dishes will be sampled by the panel of judges led by head judge Maggi Celebrity Chef Muluk who will determine which team deserving of the title,” Ida added.
The champion of ‘Kubah Ria Young Chef’ will walk away with RM400 Parkson gift vouchers, Maggi hampers, Liansin products, Lotus Five Star Riverside Cineplex movie passes and a complimentary high-tea buffet for two at Riverside Majestic Hotel while the first runner-up will win RM300 Parkson gift vouchers, Maggi hampers, Liansin products, Lotus Five Star Riverside Cineplex movie passes and a complimentary high-tea buffet for two at Riverside Majestic Hotel and second runner-up will bag RM200 Parkson gift vouchers, Maggi hampers, Liansin products, Lotus Five Star Riverside Cineplex movie passes and a complimentary high-tea buffet for two at Riverside Majestic Hotel.
Two subsidiary titles will also be up for grabs in which the winners will be awarded with RM100 Parkson gift vouchers, Maggi hampers and Liansin products for Best Young Chef and Best Presentation.
Other activities to be held during the competition include a cooking demonstration by Chef Muluk.
