Driver injured after trailer skids

MIRI: A driver of a trailer laden with plywood heading to Miri from Bintulu, had sustained injuries to his leg after the vehicle that he was travelling in skidded before crashing into oil palm trees by the roadside in Bakong, located some 60km from here early Saturday morning.

The incident was believed to have occurred at about 4.30am.

The driver, in his 30’s, had been treated at Miri Hospital for his injuries.

According to sources, the victim had been pinned inside the vehicle for two hours before a rescue team arrived at the scene.

Before the mishap, the trailer, driven by the victim was on his way to Miri from Bintulu, in a convoy of three other trailers.

The trailer driven by the victim was in front, ahead of three other trailers.

However, upon navigating a sharp bend at the scene, the vehicle went out of control.

A team from Miri Fire station rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call from the victim’s friends.

The actual cause of the incident has yet to be determined.
